Performance Saturday August 29th at 7PM “Morales turned his guitar into a relentless explorer of the rhythms and melodies of the Americas. When he and his band finished playing, fans rushed to buy his CDs, while others lined up and chanted for his autograph.” Jeff Rivers, Hartford Courant reviewing Rolando’s appearance at the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz in Connecticut "Passionate." "Sophisticated." "Powerful." These are just some of the words critics have used to describe Rolando Morales' unique blend of Latin jazz, flamenco, samba and Afro Cuban grooves. Rolando's stellar abilities on the Spanish and synthesizer guitars attract the very best to perform with him, including musicians who played or recorded with Tito Puente, Lauryn Hill, Airto, Dizzy Gillespie, Tower of Power, Spearhead, Rubén Blades and Carlos Santana. “Opening recently for ‘Los Lobos’ at Stern Grove in San Francisco, he and his superb band… swung the crowd like crazy with a Latin fusion sound that’s irresistibly danceable.” … Jesse Chuy Varela, East Bay Express, Critic’s Choice tford Festival of Jazz in Connecticut.
He and his personnel are consummate pros. They are confident, dependable and always respectful of their audiences. He uses top-of-the-line equipment to bring out the best possible sound from his musicians. As for versatility, he can help you decide what works best for your event. He is available for festivals, concerts, parties, weddings and conventions. You may choose to go with Rolando as a solo instrumentalist-vocalist, which sounds amazingly rich and full. Or you may decide to go with his duet of guitar and harp or violin for the first part of your event, and finish with the full band for dancing. It's up to you. When you want the best, ask for Rolando. Rolando, living in the San Francisco Bay Area, is an acclaimed guitarist, vocalist, composer, arranger and recording artist. He has performed throughout Spain, England, Italy, Ireland, Mexico and Hawaii. His diverse talents span the musical spectrum. On a given night, you might hear him performing driving Cuban grooves to Latin rhythms with rock and funk elements; original sambas to passionately sung boleros; or classical or flamenco-inspired instrumentals to swinging Latin-jazz.
He was equally comfortable performing with his full band before thousands at KKSF concerts; with his Quintet before 12,000 enthusiastic fans at the Stern Grove Festival; before close to 50,000 at the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz in Connecticut; and as a soloist for shows as small and intimate as a party of three, of whom one was special guest Demi Moore.
