The festival originated years ago, though, its of late that a vibrant connotation is associated with the festivity. History The entire globe seems to be painted red on this beautiful day which actually owes its origin to the Romans in pagan times, which celebrated Feast of Lupercalia in mid-February. As per the legend goes, the actual Valentine celebration started a day before the Feast of Lupercalia, i.e. on 15th February, to observe a holiday to honor Juno - the Queen of Roman Gods and Goddesses, also considered as the Goddess of Women and Marriage. The day was later shifted to 14th February, thus, putting an end to the pagan celebrations.
Many scholars also believe that February 14 was chosen for the celebration of romantic festival of Valentine's Day because of the popular belief in England and France during Middle Ages that February 14 marked the beginning of birds mating season.

Darlene Coleman: Vocalist |
Darlene Coleman is a vocalist who has been much in demand by many of the San Francisco Bay Area's top bands for the past ten years. Darlene Coleman has that rare gift for remaining true to the style and arrangement originally meant for whatever song she may be performing, yet she is also able to add her own very special touch, almost making you feel as though you're hearing a pop classic or jazz standard for the very first time. Although her style is varied, she easily moves from pop, to jazz or swing standards, to the blues. Audiences as well as other performers agree that Darlene Coleman vocal styling is a rare treat, which she deftly combines with an alluring stage presence. |
